The Communications Center at the Kawartha Lakes Police Service answers all 911 calls for the City of Kawartha Lakes. The 911 Operator will initially ask the nature of the emergency whether you want "Police, Fire or Ambulance". If it's a fire call within the City or a police call for the Kawartha Lakes Police, the communicator will take your information and dispatch the call. If your emergency requires the Ontario Provincial Police or an Ambulance your call will be transferred or "downstreamed" to the appropriate agency. The 911 Operators handle in excess of 27,000 calls per year.
